What Saurashtra Offers
Saurashtra offers a set of mid-sized cities where a good outlet can become the default meeting place for its neighbourhood.
The region is not one market but several. Each city has its own anchor: a port, an industry, a pilgrimage or a college crowd. A cafe plan that copies a big-city template misses that, so the first job is to understand what brings people out in the city you are considering.
The trade-off is simple. Smaller cities can mean lower rent and less competition, but also fewer customers per street and slower word-of-mouth growth in the first months. Plan for that honestly.
Think of it as choosing between several small, well-defined pools of customers rather than one large one. For the right owner, that is a strength: you can know your customers by name, adjust the menu quickly and build the kind of loyalty big-city cafes rarely get.
City-by-City Notes
Each Saurashtra city rewards a slightly different cafe, so treat these notes as starting questions, not conclusions.
Jamnagar
Jamnagar is an industrial and port-linked city, so working professionals and families are the core. Ask where office workers and residents spend their evenings, and look for a site on a road people already use daily.
Bhavnagar
Bhavnagar is a port city with a long trading history. Cafes here can draw from students, business owners and families. Check how footfall moves between old-city areas and newer residential belts before choosing.
Junagadh
Junagadh is known for Girnar and its heritage, and it receives visitors as well as residents. If you plan around tourism, remember that visitor numbers shift with the season. A site that also serves locals is safer than one that depends only on travellers.
We have no outlet in these cities. Twing Cafe's open outlet is in Rajkot. Jamnagar, Bhavnagar and Junagadh are part of our wider Saurashtra expansion focus, with franchise enquiries open.
In every one of these cities, the same test applies: stand on the street you like at the busiest hour and the quietest hour. If the gap between them is huge, ask what could fill the quiet hours, such as a morning routine crowd, a school or tuition rush, or an evening family walk.
Small-City Format Fit
In a smaller city, start with the smaller format unless you have a site that clearly supports a bigger one.
A Kiosk, with investment starting from ₹5 Lakhs, needs little space and keeps fixed costs low, which suits a market where daily footfall is modest. A larger cafe format makes sense on a busy main road or near a college cluster where people stay for an hour. The current ranges for each format are on the franchise models section.
- Choose the Kiosk when you have a good pass-through spot, a limited budget or want to learn the business first.
- Choose a larger cafe when the area has seating-friendly footfall and you can afford rent plus working capital for a slow start.
Our guide to low-investment cafe franchises covers what to check beyond the price tag.
Whichever you choose, keep the first-year budget conservative. In a smaller city, a cautious start with room to expand later is usually safer than a large opening that needs high daily sales from day one.
Why Rajkot Is a Natural Hub
Rajkot is the main commercial city of Saurashtra and sits within reach of the other Saurashtra cities, which makes it a practical base for supporting outlets across the region.
It is also where Twing Cafe's open outlet and franchise enquiry office are. You can visit the outlet at Amrut Heights, 50 Feet Road, Kuvadva Road (details on the outlets page), see the model in practice, and meet the team before you decide. The Saurashtra franchise page and the Rajkot page explain the regional picture.
For a Saurashtra investor, that means a place to learn the product, a team to call and a working outlet to point to when you explain the idea to your family or partners.
Support Considerations
In a smaller city, the quality of franchise support matters more, because you do not have a crowd of other cafe owners nearby to learn from.
Ask exactly what support covers: initial training, recipe standardisation, supply of key ingredients, help with the first weeks, and what happens when a problem comes up after launch. Ask how far the support team will travel and how fast they reply.
If you do not plan to be at the counter yourself, look at the FOCO model, where the investor owns the outlet and the company provides operational support to run it. Terms are shared by the franchise team on request.
Also check how the numbers work in a smaller market. Our ROI and payback explainer helps you test them. Remember that Twing Cafe's payback figure is an indicative target of about 6 months, not a guarantee, and depends on location, footfall, rent, operations and sales.
Small-city owners often do more themselves in the early months. Be ready to work the counter, manage stock and train staff until the routine is stable. That hands-on period is also when you learn what your customers really want.
